Reflection

As I go into elementary education, I feel that digital imaging (PhotoShop) is going to be the most useful. With PhotoShop I can create diagrams and visuals that will help my students understand the content I teach. Aside from my career, I can use PhotoShop for personal projects; I can edit photos and recreate pictures too.

The following link contains the video my group (Elaine and Cecilia) and I created for incoming RCHS students:

My Future Degree

I want to gain a degree in the education field; specifically, I want to become an Early Childhood to 6th Grade Bilingual Generalist.
When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Once I reached middle school and early years of high school, my career focus began shifting to medical school and pediatric studies. Now, I have gone back to the dream of becoming an educator.

Robot

Wow. It's pretty amazing how far technology has come. The robot surely knows how to operate. It can speak, jump, dance, kick a soccer ball, and pour a fluid into a cup. Pretty cool if I may say.
If I were to have a robot, perhaps I could get more things done around my house; it could help do my chores. Not just that, my fellow robot could play sports with me. At the end of the day though, when its batteries have ran out, I think I'd feel disappointed and upset, even, that it is only a computer.

Video

For this final project, my group and I decided to make our video about 'Senior tips’. Such advice includes: Do not procrastinate, do not freak out about capstone, and make time for yourself.

The first scenario, “Do not procrastinate”, will include Elaine as the procrastinator and Cecilia as the brainy kid. Cecilia reminds Elaine that a 17 page essay is due the following day, but unfortunately,  Elaine has not begun working on it; she believes it is due until a couple weeks later, and has been procrastinating in the mean time.

In the second scenario, “Do no freak out about capstone”, Elaine will portray an RCHS senior and I will be the handing her words of wisdom. Elaine is struggling with her capstone essay and I appear in time to tell her that there is tons of help available to help her succeed in her capstone project.

Last but not least, in the third scenario, “Make time for yourself”, Cecilia and I will show ways future RCHS seniors can release their stress, “unwind and relax.”

Capstone Presentation Reflection

How did it go?
My capstone presentation, I'd say, was pretty good overall. I was the last one to present to the judge, which was both a good and bad thing. Good because I had enough time to practice my presentation several times to others before the real deal; bad because longer time waiting meant longer time being nervous and stressed. It really did help that my judge was lighthearted and humorous. He found my capstone project interesting and was proud of my end-product, so I believe it went more than well.

Was it what I expected?
Truly, it was not what I expected. In my anxiety and stress, I expected a cold and judgmental evaluator. I thought my judge would ask me strange questions, which indeed, did not occur. He asked questions I was prepared to answer. I thought the three hours during capstone presentations would never end, but they flew faster than I thought they would.

What if anything would I do differently?
I would not panic and I would actually try to enjoy my time during capstone presentations.

Change of Plans

I changed my poster idea. I figured that my end-product would be appearing a bit too much in my capstone presentation if my poster also related back to it; the board game (my end-product) will be physically present during my capstone presentation and a model of it will be included in the appendix of my 15 page essay. Therefore, I created a poster that more clearly showcased my capstone topic: learning patterns.
