Marmion said it wisely, "Joy is the echo of God's life within us."

Mind Reader Reveals His Gift
Before the mind reader revealed his "gift", I thought to myself, "Either this man is in serious deep witchcraft, or he is a very talented stalker." So it appears to be that he is a very talented stalker, no witchcraft included. And well, he gains his information from the internet. That's scary.
I am not sure why I got so surprised. I had previously heard in the news that the government was virtually invading our privacy. I suppose the thought freaked me out for a little while, but you know, things fade...you forget about them. This leads me to an observation I have made.
So...I often take a look at yahoo! news in the slide show that appers in the home page. Well, I have noticed that a caption related to the world usually appears, something related to Syria or North Korea...something we should care for, and close by it a caption regarding celebrity gossip stands by. And it's strange, I prefer to view the celebrity gossip than to read about world news.
Media has a way of distracting us from reality; I wonder if it's all part of a government's scheme.

Capstone Project Statement
My capstone project is centered around blended learning, an educational system that combines online learning and teachers' instruction within the traditional school setting. Even so, every student has a different way of learning. Some are visual learners, others are auditory learners, and others are "hands-on" material. It's difficult for several students to adapt to online learning because an online curriculum does have its limitations. For starters, there is not as much synergy in a virtual classroom as there is in a traditional classroom; this difference can affect students in their learning process (several students learn by interacting with others) and possibly, have an emotional impact. It is important to note that online learning is most beneficial for independent, self-disciplined students in comparison to dependent learners.
My goals for this project lie on the following questions: How can blended learning meet the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles of students in a more efficient way? How can synergy levels arise in a virtual classroom so students can perform better in their academics and gain emotional stability? How can the online curriculum continue to strengthen self-disciplined students, and yet help dependent learners succeed as well? I plan to develop a program for blended learning schools that can strengthen their limitations, which I mentioned above.
My project is important because K-12 online learning is the newest innovation in the education field. Blended learning is said to be a disruptive innovation, which is, according to Knewton, "transforming a service that is expensive, complicated, and inaccessible into a service that is less expensive, much simpler, and more convenient." Also, as Clayton Christensen discusses in Disrupting Class, it is estimated that "by 2019, 50% of all high school courses wil be delivered online." This projection should be a motive as to why improve online learning curriculums and blended learning settings.
My capstone project connects to my career objectives because I am pursuing a degree within the education field. I want to become an elementary/secondary school teacher, and I know that this project will help me better understand the needs of distinct students. Also, I hope this project molds me into the type of person that makes a change when there is a problem for that is needed in a classroom.
I believe my project is giving back to society in that it is offering a proposal in how blended learning environments, or shall I say the "schools of the future", can be improved.
